After Roxas and Eric had warned Zack that the cool weather was definitely turning into a blizzard, after he'd gathered food and gone to the Clothes Box to see what it could give him (a larger bag, several blankets, coats and warmer clothes), Zack had headed straight home. He considered leaving the gunblade, but it was practically a gun and guns were better than swords. So Austin had told him.

There weren't a lot of important things in the hut. Most things were easily replaceable. He wished he'd built storm shutters and a fireplace, but it was too late for that now. He did the best he could and gave the place a final look before closing the door. He hoped it wouldn't be crushed by the snow of a blizzard.

"Alright, Strife. Let's go check on the ladies," he said with a grin. His mood was changing from serious and focused to just serious. There was just one thing left to do. They headed down the beach toward the dojo.

"Yuffie? Aeris?" he called out before he had made it to the door. "Hey, you two in there?" It was definitely getting colder and soon the leather 'Sephiroth' jacket would not suffice to keep him warm.

She'd sensed the change in weather much earlier in the day. The shift from the steady, mostly unchanging warmth on the island was easy to detect to one out, wandering and tracking every subtlety one could still record. She would have known earlier--before any physical symptoms--and known more about it if she could speak to the Island.

As it was, she still returned to the shelter of the dojo before things became harsh outside. She did not remain in in for longer than she needed to, however. When the weather would unleash its full fury--not long from while she watched the darkening clouds in the sky--she would of course remain inside. Until then, despite the ever increasing chill, she chose not to.

She was leaning on one of the dojo walls, waiting to spot the first snowflake, when she heard Zack. It was a bit strange, glancing around the corner to see him in that leather jacket Sephiroth wore, but without materia or similar to provide warmth, it made sense he would choose to wear it.

"Yuffie isn't home."

He smiled when he saw her, relieved that she was at the dojo and not on one of her wandering adventures.

"Where is she? There's going to be a blizzard. We should head up to the compound. Or the rec center since its closer."

"I don't know. Maybe she went up to the Compound?" She smiled slightly, and shook her head. The snow and the cold would get worse. Others would retreat to the warmth and safety of the concrete buildings. They would have to stay there for at least the day.

It would be more peaceful here. It would be more free and living.

"You can go and see if you like."

"You're not getting rid of me that easily," he said with a smirk. "It's either you come with me or I stay here." He folded his arms across his chest to show his determination.

Strife wasn't feeling quite to obstinate and wandered his way to Aeris, sniffing along the ground as he went, before he arrived in front of her. Obviously awaiting a pat or a rub on the head.

She offered a brief, amused smile. She was sure that this place would be perfectly safe--it didn't feel like it was going to be that terrible of a storm. It wasn't bad enough to stay in the Compound.

She knelt down at Strife's approach, and scratched his ear gently. "You can stay if you want to. Kyokyo's inside, sleeping under the covers. I don't want to wake her."

"Alright. Glad that's settled then," he grinned, happy she didn't argue with him for the fun of having a debate. He smiled at dog and woman as he walked past them and into the dojo.

"I brought some things just in case," he said, once he set down the large bundle of blankets, coats and warmer clothes he'd been carrying. What he'd meant was just in case she stubbornly stayed out at the dojo.
